One person was injured and another is in custody following a stabbing in Mundelein stemming from what police described as an alleged driving altercation or road rage incident on Wednesday, authorities said.
Mundelein Police Department responded to the area of Route 176 and Joice Lane for the report of a stabbing at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Responding officers found a 57-year-old male victim bleeding from stab wounds to his chest, police said.
The victim was able to provide a partial description of the suspect and his vehicle, who had fled the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery and is expected to survive, police said.
Officers and detectives were able to identify a 59-year-old male suspect who was found at his Mundelein residence and taken into custody without incident, police said.
Police said the incident remains under investigation, and criminal charges are pending against the unidentified suspect.
