A Round Lake Beach man has been charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography following a search warrant at his home on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Round Lake Beach Deputy Police Chief Tim Schuster said detectives, in cooperation with the Illinois Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, conducted a complex and lengthy investigation into child pornography being disseminated online from a residence in Round Lake Beach.

Schuster said, as part of the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the home in the 1600 block of Turnbull Drive with the assistance of the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office Cyber Crimes Division.

Just before 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the Round Lake Beach Police Department, with the assistance of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, executed the search warrant at the residence.

Lake County Sheriff’s Electronic Detection Canine Enzo also assisted with the search of the residence, Schuster said.

As a result of the search, police officers seized several electronic devices that belonged to Diego Antunez-Cordova, 21, of the same residence.

Following his arrest, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved four Class 2 felony counts of possession of child pornography.

Antunez-Cordova was transported to  Lake County First Appearance Court on Thursday morning, where prosecutors with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office said four files were recovered in an online app belonging to Antunez-Cordova that contained children under the age of 13 engaging in sexual acts.

Prosecutors said they were not filing paperwork to detain Antunez-Cordova in jail until trial because they were not able to meet the requirements needed to detain him. They said Antunez-Cordova did not try or entice children into performing any sex acts.

Lake County Judge Helen Rozenberg ordered Antunez-Cordova released from jail pending restrictions that have no contact with minors, adhere to a curfew established by Lake County Pretrial Services, not possess any electronic devices and have no contact with minors aside from supervised visits with a family member.
