The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed the necessary court documents to detain two men until trial for firing guns recklessly at homes and cars near Grayslake.
Jabreon Bell, 19, and his friend, Sir Mark Hill, 18, both of unincorporated Grayslake, were arrested early Saturday morning for randomly shooting the guns near their homes.
The duo is charged by prosecutors with four counts of Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm for both men, while Hill was also charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
Each charge is a Class 4 felony, officials said.
Court records show the pair is currently being held in the Lake County Jail in anticipation of a Detention Court appearance on Monday afternoon.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said deputies responded to 911 calls in the 18400 block of West Meander Drive in unincorporated Grayslake for a report of shots fired at 3:45 a.m. Saturday morning.
Deputies arrived and found bullet holes in a vehicle and two nearby homes, Covelli said.
Covelli said no one was injured in the shooting.
Sheriff’s deputies located Hill and Bell in the area, Covelli said.
They initially claimed they had been shot at by occupants of a vehicle that drove by, Covelli said.
However, sheriff’s deputies located video surveillance in the area and saw both Bell and Hill were armed with firearms, Covelli said.
The video also showed Hill firing several rounds toward the southeast of his location, Covelli said.
Bell and Hill were taken into custody shortly thereafter, Covelli said.
Detectives investigating the case also searched Bell’s home, Covelli said, where they recovered two loaded pistols, one of which had an extended magazine.
After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the incident, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges against Hill and Bell, Covelli said.
