Police arrested a driver after he crashed his van into multiple parked cars and then collided into a house, which was occupied, in Round Lake Beach, officials said.

The Round Lake Beach Police Department and Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded around 6:09 p.m. last Sunday to the 1500 block of Ridgeway Avenue in Round Lake Beach for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Round Lake Beach Deputy Police Chief Tim Schuster said multiple calls were received for a white Ford van that had struck several parked vehicles and collided with a residence.

Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Jay VandeBerg said the incident was initially dispatched as a structural collapse due to dispatchers receiving multiple 911 calls for a collision involving a structure.

Officers located the vehicle disabled at the scene and made contact with the driver, identified as Roger Jimenez, 34, of Round Lake Beach.

Officers observed signs of impairment consistent with alcohol consumption from Jimenez, Schuster said.

A further investigation led to Jimenez being placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

Jimenez was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

VandeBerg said there were no hazards from the vehicle and the home sustained minor damage.

No fire department intervention was required as there was no collapse, utility issues or other hazards.

The home was occupied at the time of the crash but no one was injured inside and no one in the van involved was hurt either, VandeBerg said.

A parked Ram work van that was among the vehicles hit sustained moderate front-end damage.

The Ford van driven by Jimenez was towed away from the scene following his arrest.
