The Department of Homeland Security announced the arrests of several “worst of the worst” suspects, including a Mexican national who illegally entered the United States and sexually assaulted a child in Lake County.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested several “worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens” last week on Monday.
Those suspects were convicted of crimes including aggravated battery of a child, domestic battery, sexual abuse of a victim younger than 13, taking indecent liberties with a child and drug trafficking.
“For the last ten months, ICE law enforcement officers have been delivering on President Trump’s promise to arrest the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.
“Despite what the media and Democrats claim, 70% of all ICE arrests are of illegal aliens convicted or charged with a crime in the U.S. This statistic doesn’t even include the illegal aliens we arrest who are convicted of crimes in their home counties, foreign fugitives, and gang members who just lack a rap sheet in the U.S,” McLaughlin said.
The recent arrests include Jose L. Flores-Ramirez, 67, illegally in the United States from Mexico, who was convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim younger than 13 years old in Lake County.
Court records show Flores-Ramirez was indicted on seven counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony, in 2012 and pleaded guilty to one of the counts in February 2013.
The victim, an 8-year-old, was the downstairs neighbor of Flores-Ramirez when the two lived in Highland Park.
DNA was obtained during an examination and the DNA profile was consistent with that of Flores-Ramirez.
The victim also identified Flores-Ramirez as the person who sexually assaulted her.
Flores-Ramirez was sentenced to 16 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) as part of the negotiated plea deal.
He was released from state prison last month on November 19 and IDOC refused to honor an immigration detainer lodged against him by ICE, according to DHS.
The other recent arrests made by ICE on the same day as Flores-Ramirez include Cristian Mendivil-Diaz, illegally in the United States from Mexico, who was convicted of aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery of a child in Clinton County, Illinois.
Liam San, illegally in the United States from Burma, who was convicted of indecent liberties with a child in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
Alberto Delgado-Cespedes, illegally in the United States from Cuba, who was convicted of manufacturing/delivering a controlled substance – methamphetamine in Lubbock County, Texas.
Kindu Zamambu, illegally in the United States from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who was convicted of sexual abuse in Cheektowaga, New York.
