One person sustained serious, possibly critical, injuries after being thrown from the bed of a construction truck during a crash with a pickup truck in Long Grove on Thursday, authorities said.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said roadway construction workers were retrieving construction equipment on Old McHenry Road near Prairie Wind Road in Long Grove at 9:15 p.m. Thursday when a Ford F-350 truck traveling northbound on Old McHenry Road struck the construction vehicle.
The construction vehicle was parked on the east side of Old McHenry Road with yellow flashing lights activated, Covelli said.
The collision caused a 42-year-old male worker standing on the bed of the construction vehicle to be thrown to the ground.
That worker sustained serious, possibly critical, injuries, Covelli said.
No other roadway workers were injured in the crash.
The Ford F350 truck was driven by a 38-year-old man of Hawthorn Woods, Covelli said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team. Charges will be reviewed following the conclusion of the investigation.
