A Spring Grove man has been reported missing and in a “very confused” state, with him being sighted in several towns in Lake County Wednesday morning.

Wayne Johnson, 84, of Spring Grove, has been missing since 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

His close family friend, Joy Palmer, told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that a missing person report was initially made with the Spring Grove Police Department.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office have also been notified.

A “be on the lookout” was issued to all other police departments as well, Palmer said.

Johnson was driving a tan or beige Subaru Forester with a license plate of XLG359.

Johnson is described as a male white, 5-foot-9, 215 pounds, wearing a gray puffy jacket with red trim and jeans.

Palmer said Subaru is unable to track his vehicle and his cell phone is dead. The last phone ping was at 7:27 a.m. in Waukegan.

Johnson was “very confused” when he called his wife Tuesday evening, Palmer said.

He thought he was in Waukegan but was unsure and said he was going to try to get home.

His car was spotted on license plate reader cameras in Lake Forest and on Route 60 in Vernon Hills on Wednesday morning, Palmer said.

Johnson has never gone missing before and anyone who spots the man is asked to call 911.

UPDATE: The man has been located safely.
