A driver was hospitalized and charged after state police say she crashed into a concrete barrier, causing her car to roll over and sustain heavy damage, on Interstate 90 near Marengo.
The Illinois State Police, Hampshire Fire Protection District and Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District responded around 8:30 a.m. Saturday to Interstate 90 at mile marker 32.75 south of Marengo for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Fire officials said the crash happened in the westbound lanes west of Anthony Road.
Fire crews arrived and found a single-vehicle crash with heavy damage on the shoulder.
The driver, who was the sole occupant, was already self-extricated from the car when the fire department arrived, fire officials said.
Illinois State Police said a preliminary investigation showed a Nissan Murano was traveling westbound on Interstate 90.
The driver lost control for unknown reasons, traveled onto the left emergency shoulder and hit a concrete barrier.
The Nissan rolled over after the impact with the barrier and came to rest on its side.
The driver, Jetzemani Hernandez-Guijoza, 30, of Chicago, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
She has since been issued citations for improper lane usage and driving while license revoked.
