Police say no new clues have been found after a Buffalo Grove man, who is a father, vanished with no trace two weeks ago, leading to his car being found at a marina in Winthrop Harbor.

Tomas Stundzia, 48, of Buffalo Grove, was last heard from around 5 p.m. on December 7 by text message.

Paulius Abromavicius, who is a friend of Stundzia, said she is desperately asking for the public’s help in locating him.

Toll records show Stundzia’s car was traveling northbound on Interstate 94 near Wadsworth around 10 a.m. on December 7.

Marta Dominika Wysocka, another friend of the man, said that a friend later went to the North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor and found his car parked there.

Stundzia keeps his boat in a nearby lot at the marina. Wysocka said Stundzia would go ice fishing and overnight fish but his boat was still there.

The storage owner confirmed Stundzia had not been there for approximately two weeks, Abromavicius said.

A police report was made with the Winthrop Harbor Police Department and an investigation was underway.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department initially said they were working closely with the Winthrop Harbor Police Department to locate Stundzia but Buffalo Grove has since reportedly taken over the case.

Police have checked area hospitals and used a drone to search the area with no results.

“Unfortunately, since there’s no evidence of danger or self-harm, the police’s hands are tied right now,” Abromavicius said earlier this month.

Abromavicius also said that there are no working cameras around the North Point Marina. The marina is reportedly upgrading the camera system during the off-season.

Wysocka said the detective in charge “has his hands tied” since there is no evidence of anything.

“His phone is off, we don’t know the password to his laptop, the only thing we were able to access was his IPASS, that’s why we were able to locate his car,” Wysocka said.

“We are pleading with anyone who was at the North Point Marina or driving on I-94 near Wadsworth on Sunday, December 7th, morning or evening, to please think hard and report anything you might have seen, no matter how small it seems!” Abromavicius said.

Salmon Unlimited Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to conserving the Lake Michigan fish, said that a team of their Illinois and Wisconsin members participated in a search party on December 12 for their missing friend.

An extensive search was conducted but no signs were found of Stundzia, who is the father of a daughter who lives out of the country.

Wysocka also said friends have been searching but have since held off on additional searches for now.

Police do not have enough evidence to suspect anything, Wysocka said, adding that there were still no new updates as of Monday.

Buffalo Grove Deputy Police Chief Brian Spolar said Monday that investigators received historical information from Stundzia’s cell phone carrier which shows his last location was at the marina on the morning of December 8. No further activity has been received since.

Stundzia is described as being 6-foot-1 tall, 210 pounds, with brown hair, green eyes and facial hair. He drives a gray 2019 Toyota 4Runner and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Buffalo Grove Police Department at 847-459-2560.
