State police say charges have been filed against a driver who was intoxicated and caused a rollover crash on Interstate 90 near Huntley that left his passenger seriously injured and flown to the hospital.

The Huntley Fire Protection District and Illinois State Police responded around 2:44 p.m. Wednesday to Interstate 90 near milepost 44 outside of Huntley for a vehicle crash with injuries.

The Illinois State Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred in the eastbound lanes near Brier Hill Road.

An investigation showed that Jordan Lane, 30, of Chicago, was operating a white Jeep Liberty.

Lane lost control while on the interstate, rolling the Jeep over, with the vehicle landing in the right ditch. Heavy damage was reported.

State police said Lane and two passengers were injured and both were hospitalized with injuries.

One passenger was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley and a medical helicopter was requested.

The LifeNet helicopter met the ambulance at the hospital’s helipad and the victim was transferred to the flight crew for transport to a Level 1 trauma center due to apparent serious injuries.

Other ambulances transported Lane and the second passenger to area hospitals for treatment.

State police said in an update Tuesday that Lane was arrested after it was determined he was driving under the influence, not wearing a seatbelt, operating an uninsured car and disobeyed a police officer.

He was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, no seatbelt usage, uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and disobeying a police officer.

A woman who witnessed the crash told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that it was “horrible” and involved a white Jeep. She said she has not stopped thinking about the two people in the car.
