Two people were hospitalized, including one who was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters, after three cars crashed in Round Lake Thursday afternoon.
The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District and Round Lake Police Department responded around 3 p.m. Thursday to Route 120 and Cedar Lake Road in Round Lake for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Emergency crews arrived and found three vehicles – two SUVs and one minivan – involved in the crash, according to Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Charley Mitchell.
An occupant of one of the SUVs was trapped inside their vehicle following the crash, which resulted in heavy damage.
Firefighters extricated the occupant by removing the door, Mitchell said.
Two people were transported to the hospital in stable condition. The extent of their injuries was not released.
Another patient refused transport to the hospital and was released, Mitchell added.
The crash remains under investigation by the Round Lake Police Department.
