The U.S. Marshals Service and police converged on an apartment complex in Waukegan on Tuesday to arrest a Waukegan man wanted for attempted murder in the stabbing of a victim in Chicago.
The Chicago Police Department announced Wednesday that they had arrested Durrell Robertson, 40, of Waukegan.
Robertson was wanted on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery in a public place and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
The Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Robertson around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
He was taken into custody at his residence in the 1700 block of Longview Road in Waukegan.
Police officials said Robertson stabbed a victim in the 3500 block of South Rhodes Avenue in Chicago around 6:15 p.m. on January 1.
The 34-year-old male victim was left seriously injured and hospitalized, police officials said.
Police radio traffic indicated the victim was stabbed multiple times in the chest.
Officers initially responding to a person with a knife call encountered the victim and called for paramedics.
Robertson was transported to the Cook County Jail following his arrest where he remains held as of Friday after a judge granted a petition to detain him while awaiting trial.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on January 27 for a status hearing.
Court records show Robertson at the time of his arrest this week was also wanted in Lake County on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, criminal trespass to residence with a person present and two counts of domestic battery arising from a December 20 incident in Waukegan.
