A Woodstock man on pre-trial release for attacking a child at the Walmart in Algonquin has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill a man and an infant while taking photos of himself holding a rifle.
Keon A. Harris, 19, of Woodstock, was charged on Saturday with phone harassment and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Harris used Snapchat to abuse, threaten or harass another man around 5:36 p.m. Thursday.
The complaint said Harris threatened to kill the man with a firearm.
Harris sent the victim multiple videos and photos of himself holding what appeared to be an AR-15 rifle while making the threats, the complaint said.
The complaint said Harris threatened to shoot and kill the victim and his infant son.
Harris said in the videos, “Have you ever seen a baby die, imagine your son leaking from his forehead,” according to the complaint.
The Woodstock Police Department investigated the case and arrested Harris.
He was released from custody despite already being on pre-trial release in a separate case because the charges against him were only Class B and C misdemeanors, meaning prosecutors are unable to file a petition to revoke his release under the SAFE-T Act.
Harris and Fernando Torres, 18, of Woodstock, were charged early last year with aggravated battery in a public place, a Class 3 felony, and mob action, a Class 4 felony.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Harris, Torres and a third suspect attacked a 15-year-old boy around 8 p.m. on January 27, 2025.
The incident occurred in the vestibule of Walmart, 1410 South Randall Road in Algonquin.
Harris and Torres caused bodily harm to the victim by striking the victim multiple times with their closed fists to his face, the complaint said.
Torres allegedly stomped on the victim during the attack, the complaint said.
The victim suffered visible bruising and discoloration to his right eye. The victim also suffered bleeding from the nose and mouth, the complaint said.
A witness saw the incident occurring and called 911.
Paramedics transported the victim to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital for his injuries.
Officers arrested Harris at the time, while an arrest warrant was issued for Torres, who was later taken into custody.
McHenry County Judge Cynthia Lamb released Harris from the McHenry County Jail on January 28 due to the charges being non-detainable under Illinois’ cashless bail law.
Harris was ordered to have no contact with the victim or the Walmart and not possess any firearms.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday for a status of trial date in his first case and then on February 2 for a plea hearing in his newest case.
