A 34-year-old man was hospitalized after being left semi-conscious after he was struck by a pickup truck while in the roadway along Route 176 in Crystal Lake.
The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department and Crystal Lake Police Department responded around 3:18 p.m. last Thursday to the area of Route 176 and Ridge Avenue in Crystal Lake for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.
Police officers first on scene reported the victim was semi-conscious and down in the roadway, according to emergency radio traffic.
The fire department placed a medical helicopter on standby but it was unavailable due to the windy conditions.
Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Richard Neumann said an investigation showed a Ford pickup truck was traveling westbound on Route 176 near Ridge Avenue.
Neumann said an adult male entered the roadway and was struck by the Ford, which was driven by a 69-year-old woman.
The 34-year-old man suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and paramedics transported him to a local hospital for treatment.
His current condition is unknown.
The pickup truck did not sustain any damage and was able to be driven away from the scene following the investigation.
Officers shut down Route 176 near Ridge Avenue for approximately an hour while they conducted an investigation, police officials said.
Neumann said there have been no citations issued and the case remains under investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department.
Police did not release further information on whether the pedestrian was crossing the street or why he was in the roadway.
