One person suffered unknown injuries after his vehicle slid off the roadway on Route 12 and slammed into a utility pole near Fox Lake early Sunday.
Battalion Chief Tom Preidis of the Fox Lake Fire Protection District said fire crews were called to the scene of the crash at about 8:50 a.m. Sunday for a vehicle that hit a utility pole on Route 12 at State Park Road.
Preidis said the vehicle was heading westbound on Route 12 when it slid off the roadway for an unknown reason and hit the major utility pole.
The driver of the vehicle was the sole occupant of the car, Preidis said.
In addition, he said the vehicle did not strike any other cars on the roadway before sliding off the roadway.
Preidis said the force of the crash caused the utility pole to completely break and fall.
The driver of the vehicle had to be extracted, Preidis said.
The victim was transported from the scene of the crash to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital for treatment, Preidis said.
His condition is unknown at this time, Preidis said
Preidis said ComEd was called to the scene to assist with power issues caused by the accident and the broken utility pole.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene, Preidis said.
