One person suffered non-life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash on a busy stretch of roadway near Antioch on Wednesday morning, officials said.
Batallion Chief Tim Taylor of the Antioch Fire Department said fire crews were called to Route 173 and Route 45 near Antioch for an accident with injuries at 10:33 a.m. Wednesday.
On scene, crews found that a vehicle had rear-ended a pickup truck as both were heading eastbound on Route 173, Taylor said.
Taylor said Route 173 was shut down in both directions for a short time while crews worked to load an injured driver into an ambulance.
The injured driver was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life-threatening injuries.
He said the driver of the second vehicle was evaluated at the scene and refused transport to the hospital.
The roadway was completely shut down for a brief period while the scene was tended to, Taylor said.
