No injuries were reported following a South Barrington garage fire that took place at about noon on Friday.
Scott W. Motisi, Chief of Fire and Emergency Medical Services for the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District, said fire crews were dispatched to the 0-100 block of Shoreside Drive in South Barrington for a reported fire in an attached garage at about 11:50 a.m. Friday.
He said initial responding units found smoke and fire visible pushing out of an open garage door of the single-family residence.
The incident was upgraded to a full working fire response by first arriving crews, Motisi said.
An incident command system was established, Motisi said, and crews initiated an aggressive fire attack plan that focused on confinement and extinguishment of the involved contents in the garage.
He said the fire damage was contained to the initial area of origin within the garage and there was no fire extension to the rest of the property.
The fire was deemed under control within 20 minutes of initial arrival. Motisi said.
No occupants, animals, or first responders were injured due to this incident.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District, Motisi said.
Organizations assisting included the Inverness Fire Protection District, South Barrington Police Department and the Northwest Central Dispatch System.
