One person escaped injury after his vehicle left the roadway and sheared off a utility pole in Woodstock on Tuesday, authorities said.
Emergency personnel from the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the 4300 block of Gayle Drive for a reported vehicle crash with entrapment at 12:44 p.m. Tuesday, said Alex Vucha, Public Information Officer for the Woodstock Fire/Rescue Districts.
Crews arrived a short time later and located a single vehicle at the corner of Gayle Drive and Dean Street.
Vucha said the vehicle had sustained heavy damage after leaving the roadway and shearing off a utility pole before coming to rest on the property.
The adult male driver had freed himself before the arrival of emergency crews, Vucha said.
The driver was assessed on scene by paramedics and declined any additional medical treatment or transport to a hospital.
Due to damage to the utility pole, Vucha said, Dean Street was closed in both directions while ComEd responded to assess the scene.
The roadway is expected to remain closed for an undetermined amount of time.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, Vucha said.
