Police say they are investigating after a vehicle smashed through the front of a smoke shop in Crystal Lake, causing extensive damage, during a burglary Friday morning.
The Crystal Lake Police Department responded around 6:56 a.m. Friday to the 400 block of Angela Lane in Crystal Lake for a burglar alarm that was activated.
Officers arrived and found a possible burglary that occurred at Smoke Depot Crystal Lake, which is located at 435 Angela Lane in a strip mall.
Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Richard Neumann said officers discovered a vehicle had crashed through the front of the closed business.
Extensive damage was reported to the front entry of the store.
No suspects were located at the scene and no injuries were reported, Neumann said.
Investigators are working to determine if the offender or offenders stole anything from Smoke Depot.
No suspect descriptions are known yet and the investigation remains ongoing, Neumann said.
A restoration company was at the scene around noon boarding up the damaged storefront.
