A Fox Lake man has been charged with the murder of a Fox Lake woman who was found stabbed to death next to a dumpster at a hotel in Cook County Wednesday, police announced.

The Elk Grove Village Police Department and Elk Grove Village Fire Department responded around 4:18 a.m. Wednesday to the InTown Suites Extended Stay in the 2400 block of Landmeier Road in Elk Grove Village for a report of an unresponsive person outside a hotel.

Elk Grove Village Deputy Police Chief Scott Eisenmenger said officers located a deceased adult female near a refuse dumpster.

She has since been identified as Colleen Bagley, 50, of Fox Lake.

The Elk Grove Village Police Department requested the Major Case Assistance team (MCAT) to assist in conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Bagley’s death.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday ruled Bagley’s death a homicide caused by multiple sharp force injuries.

An acquaintance who was sharing a room with the Bagley was taken into custody by the Elk Grove Village Police Department during the investigation, Eisenmenger said.

He was identified as Arturo F. Taylor, 54, of Fox Lake.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office on Friday evening approved charges of first-degree murder against Taylor.

Investigators say Taylor stabbed Bagley multiple times following a dispute in their hotel room.

Taylor was transported to the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse in Chicago for a detention hearing on Saturday morning.

“Evidence indicates this was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community,” Eisenmenger said.

The Elk Grove Village Police Department said it extends its “heartfelt condolences” to the family and friends of Bagley.
