A wanted man was taken into custody after officials say he fled from officers during a traffic stop in Bull Valley and crashed into another vehicle near Crystal Lake.
Bull Valley Chief of Police Tracy Dickens said one of his officers conducted a traffic stop on the morning of March 15.
The vehicle was traveling 61 mph in a 40 mph zone in the 3000 block of Country Club Road in Bull Valley.
The car was eventually stopped by police in the 4000 block of Country Club Road, Dickens said.
Officers made contact with the driver, who was the sole occupant of the car.
He told the officer that he did not have an Illinois driver’s license but provided a name and date of birth.
Dickens said the officer returned to his vehicle to perform a name check on the driver when the offender drove away from the traffic stop.
The officer did not pursue the vehicle but traveled in the direction the vehicle was last seen, Dickens said.
A brief check of the area resulted in the officers finding the suspect attempting to gain entry to a building in the 4100 block of Country Club Road in unincorporated Crystal Lake.
Officers immediately took him into custody without further incident, Dickens said.
They learned that the suspect had just crashed into a parked vehicle in the area of Country Club Road and Railroad Street. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene for a crash report.
The suspect provided false information to the officer at the time of the traffic stop, Dickens said.
It was discovered that he had an active warrant out of McHenry County and was on parole with a second warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections for a parole violation.
The suspect additionally had a revoked Illinois driver’s license, Dickens said.
He was transported to the McHenry County Jail and local charges were issued for the incident.
