Police say no injuries were reported after a car hauler truck rolled over after its load apparently shifted, causing Route 31 in Algonquin to be partially blocked.
The Algonquin Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 3:33 p.m. Saturday to the area of Route 31 and North Main Street in Algonquin for a vehicle crash.
Firefighters arrived and found a car hauler truck on its side with two SUVs, which were on the truck, also rolled over on their sides.
Fire crews upgraded the incident to an entrapment response but quickly downgraded the alarm after confirming no one was trapped in the wreckage.
The driver of the truck was uninjured and declined transport to the hospital.
Algonquin Police Department Sgt. Jason Burzynski said the truck was transporting two vehicles on the trailer.
The truck was attempting to turn southbound on North Main Street from Route 31.
It is believed that the weight shifted on the trailer and caused the two vehicles and trailer to roll over before also causing the truck to roll over, Burzynski said.
Witnesses told officers that the driver took the turn slowly and not recklessly, Burzynski said.
The intersection was partially blocked while crews worked to upright the vehicles and remove them from the scene.
It was not immediately known whether any citations were issued.
