Police are seeking the public’s help as they actively investigate after a 15-year-old girl disappeared from her home in Huntley sometime overnight Friday into Saturday.
The Huntley Police Department announced Saturday afternoon that they were asking for the public’s help in locating Emilia Rechsteiner, 15, of Huntley.
Members of Rechsteiner’s family contacted the Huntley Police Department early Saturday morning to report that the girl was missing from her residence, according to Huntley Deputy Police Chief Kevin Keane.
They said she was last seen at the home at 11 p.m. Friday.
Keane said Huntley police detectives have been working diligently to locate her since the report.
The teen was last seen wearing black sweatpants, white Adidas shoes with black stripes and either a brown hoodie with black and grey embroidery on the neck or a gray “Norcal Surf Shop” hoodie.
A recent photo of Rechsteiner, as well as a photo of her wearing the Norcal Surf Shop hoodie, was released by police.
Rechsteiner is described as a female white, 5-foot-3 tall, 100 pounds, with brown eyes and brown shoulder-length hair.
The girl also goes by the name of Sam. She does not have a cell phone that is known to the family.
Keane said Rechsteiner may be in possession of an unidentified phone or device that is not known to her family and not tied to any family account.
“Parents of kids who may know the missing juvenile – please talk to your kids about what they know about this case and reiterate the importance of being forthcoming with the police for the safety of Emilia,” Keane said.
“We appreciate any assistance the community can provide to help bring Emilia home safely,” he added.
Anyone with current information on Rechsteiner’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Huntley Police Department at 847-515-5311 or call 911 if an immediate response is needed.
