Route 120 remains shut down for an extended period after a semi-truck and dump trailer rolled over, blocking the entire roadway and spill a load of gravel, near Woodstock Saturday morning.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10:10 a.m. Saturday to the 10100 block of West Route 120 in unincorporated Woodstock for a report of a vehicle crash with entrapment.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said crews were responding when they received additional information indicating a semi-truck had rolled over.
Fire crews arrived and located the crash along Route 120 between Fleming Road and Thompson Road.
A semi truck, which had a dump trailer, had rolled over and left Route 120 completely blocked in both directions, Vucha said.
The truck was lying on its side and spilled a load of milled asphalt across the roadway.
Vucha said the driver did not require extrication as he was out of the vehicle prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
Fluids had begun leaking from the vehicle due to the truck’s orientation but were quickly contained and did not pose an environmental concern.
The male driver was evaluated by paramedics at the scene but refused any additional medical treatment.
“The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District appreciates the assistance of personnel from the Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts at the scene,” Vucha said.
The roadway is expected to remain closed for an extended period of time.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash and it is unknown whether any citations were issued.
