Police announced that the non-emergency number for residents in multiple west-central Lake County towns will be discontinued as it is changing to a new number on Wednesday.

The Round Lake Beach Police Department said that its residents, beginning on April 1, should call 847-546-2127 to contact the Round Lake Beach Police Department for a non-emergency police response

The change marks the final stage of the department’s transition to LakeComm 9-1-1 dispatch services.

The CenCom E-911 board of directors voted earlier this month to officially dissolve operations following the transition.

CenCom E-911 managed emergency calls in the Round Lake area for decades, playing a vital role in police, fire and EMS response across several communities, Round Lake Mayor Brian Brubaker said.

Those communities included Round Lake, Hainesville, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Heights and Round Lake Park.

Brubaker said CenCom covered approximately 60 square miles and nearly 65,000 residents at its peak.

The current CenCom non-emergency number, 847-270-9111, which has been in use for a long time, will be discontinued effective April 1.

Round Lake Beach residents will hear a brief set of prompts to help direct their call when calling the new Round Lake Beach number — 847-546-2127.

Callers will also have options to reach police records, police administration and the department directory and voicemail system, in addition to requesting a non-emergency police response.

Residents in Round Lake Park can call 847-546-7275 for non-emergency, residents in Round Lake Heights can call 847-546-9704 for non-emergency, residents in Round Lake can call 847-546-8112 for non-emergency and residents in Hainesville can call 847-223-2341 for non-emergency.

Residents are reminded that all emergencies should continue to be reported by dialing 911.

The Round Lake Beach Police Department said they are urging residents to share with other residents about the change in numbers. The old number will be discontinued and not forwarded to the new one.

Round Lake Beach officials said they are also encouraging residents to register for Hyper-Reach to receive important community notifications and emergency alerts.

“Additional reminders will be shared in the days leading up to and following the April 1st transition to help ensure residents are aware of the change. The Round Lake Beach Police Department asks community members to please share this information to help spread the word,” the police department said.
