An Illinois Lottery player won a more than $1 million prize in Monday evening’s Lucky Day Lotto drawing after purchasing the ticket at a convenience store in Lake County.
The ticket was sold at the Smoke 4 Less, also known as Cheeze Shack, located at 545 Sheridan Road in Winthrop Harbor.
Illinois Lottery officials say the ticket matched all five numbers drawn — 2-7-16-41-45. The jackpot is $1.05 million.
Smoke 4 Less, also known as Cheeze Shack, will receive a $10,500 bonus, which is 1% of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
Nearly 65,000 winning tickets were sold in Monday evening’s Lucky Day Lotto drawing, awarding more than $1.2 million in total prizes to players across Illinois.
Winners have one year from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize.
The Illinois Lottery said it encourages winners to write their name on the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they are ready to claim their prize.
Lucky Day Lotto is an Illinois-only draw game with two daily drawings at 12:40 p.m. and 9:22 p.m. with jackpots starting at $100,000.
Earlier this month, the Illinois Lottery announced that a winning ticket worth $500,000 was sold in the March 5 evening “Lucky Day Lotto” drawing at the Woodman’s Food Market in Lakemoor.
The retailer will receive a bonus of one percent — or $5,000 — of the prize amount for selling the winning ticket.
The Illinois Lottery, founded in 1974, has contributed over $26 billion to the State’s Common School Fund in support of K-12 public education in Illinois since 1985, according to officials.
The Common School Fund is the Illinois Lottery’s primary beneficiary, receiving nearly 99% of Illinois Lottery proceeds. The Illinois Lottery also supports various specialty causes.
