A McHenry man escaped with only minor injuries after he crashed his car on the way to work, causing it to roll over multiple times after striking two signs near Barrington.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District responded around 10 p.m. on March 23 to the area of Kelsey Road and Arch Drive in unincorporated Barrington for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Matthew Harmon said deputies arrived and found a single-vehicle rollover crash.
Deputies observed a 2008 Ford Escape that had rolled over onto the lawn of a residence in the 28000 block of West Arch Drive.
Deputies made contact with the sole occupant of the vehicle, a 31-year-old man of McHenry, who was reporting minor injuries, Harmon said.
The driver was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene and released without needing transport to the hospital.
It was determined that the Ford was traveling southbound on Kelsey Road when it left the roadway for unknown reasons.
Harmon said the vehicle drove off into the ditch approximately 200 feet north of the intersection but continued southbound.
The Ford crashed into a subdivision sign, a stop sign and ultimately ended up in the lawn of the residence.
The Ford had rolled over several times and came to rest on the passenger side, Harmon said.
There was no indication that the driver, who was on his way to work, was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, Harmon said.
