Glenn Wilson, 59, of Waukegan

A Waukegan man previously found guilty at trial of repeatedly molesting a child he lived with in Aurora in 2006 has been sentenced to 48 years in prison.

A jury formally found Glenn Wilson, 59, of Waukegan, guilty of four Class X felony counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and four Class 1 felony counts of Criminal Sexual Assault during a trial that concluded in late January.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced Friday that Judge Bianca Camargo sentenced Wilson to 48 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections due to the finding of guilt.

Mosser said Wilson received eight years in prison for each count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and four years for each count of Criminal Sexual Assault.

All counts are to be served consecutively.

Mosser added Wilson must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence, but will receive 86 days’ credit for time already served in Kane County jail.

In addition to the prison term, Wilson must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

Mosser said Wilson was the stepfather of the victim in 2006 and lived with the victim and her family at a home in Aurora.

Mosser said Wilson used his position as stepfather and access to the child to repeatedly sexually abuse the victim.

Assistant Kane County State’s Attorneys Matthew Rodgers and Jacqueline Kliment presented facts during the court trial, Mosser said.

“I want to thank the victim/survivor in this case,” Rodgers said. “Her courage and quiet determination that the truth come out all these years later serves as an inspiration.”

Camargo ordered Wilson detained in Kane County Jail immediately following the verdict.

“The defendant used his position as an authority figure to sexually abuse the victim. He then threatened her into silence,” Rodgers said. “Despite that, the victim was determined to hold him accountable for his horrific acts. Thank you to the jury for believing the victim, and thank you to ASA Jacqueline Kliment and Aurora Detective Shane Leadbetter for their excellent work on this case.”
