Six Flags Great America in Gurnee announced that some of its youngest customers will have the opportunity to visit the park an unlimited number of times for free this year when it officially opens for business on Saturday.

Six Flags in Gurnee announced that the Pre-K Pass is back for 2026 at Great America and its adjacent Hurricane Harbor waterpark, as well as the Hurricane Harbor Rockford water park.

The pass is free for kids ages 3 to 5, and includes unlimited visits as the theme park celebrates its 50th anniversary, officials said.

A valid 2026 Silver, Gold, or Prestige Season Pass or Membership is required to register for a Pre-K Pass, officials said.

Pre-K passes are limited to two per customer, officials said. People also must register for the Pre-K pass before May 31.

Park officials say it marks a milestone year as they celebrate 50 years of “thrills, family fun and unforgettable memories.”

This season features a summer-long 50th anniversary celebration running from June 20 through August 9.

Six Flags will offer special entertainment, limited-time menu items, and nostalgic experiences to celebrate the park’s five-decade legacy.

“Opening day is always exciting, but kicking off our 50th anniversary season makes this year truly special,” said Hardeep Lall, park manager of Six Flags Great America.

“For decades, Six Flags Great America has been a place where families, friends, and communities come together. Guests have made unforgettable memories here, and this season will honor that legacy while creating new moments for guests,” Lall said.

Guests can enjoy returning favorite rides and attractions across the park starting April 25, before the 50th anniversary celebration.

The summer-long event beginning June 20 will feature an all-new nighttime spectacular, nightly drone show, legacy museum with historic artifacts, anniversary brick program, exclusive merchandise, specialty food and beverage offerings inspired by the park’s history and themed experiences “designed to take guests through five decades of thrills.”

The park has evolved into one of the Midwest’s premier entertainment destinations since opening as Marriott’s Great America in 1976.

“From the double‐decker Columbia Carousel to the park’s newest record-breaking coaster, Wrath of Rakshasa, Six Flags Great America continues to deliver experiences that resonate with generations of guests,” the theme park said.

Six Flags Great America said they are offering a spring sale until April 26 where customers can purchase a 2026 Gold Pass for the price of a Silver Pass. The owner of a Gold Pass can receive access to all parks in the region, including Cedar Point, Kings Island, Canada’s Wonderland and more.

Great America will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

The theme park will be open on weekends only and select weekdays until May 20, when it opens every day through Monday, Aug. 17.
