A SWAT team and a law enforcement task force conducted a search warrant at a residence in Fox Lake on Tuesday and arrested a suspect found with a stolen gun and drugs.

The Illinois State Police SWAT Team and Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (LCMEG) carried out a court-authorized search of a residence in the 100 block of Cypress Avenue in Fox Lake on Tuesday.

Prosecutors said a 41-year-old man lives in the basement of the home.

Agents located a 9mm pistol in the nightstand of his bedroom.

The gun had been confirmed to be stolen out of Joliet, prosecutors said. The serial number on the gun had been defaced.

A magazine was inserted into the gun but no ammunition was inside it and no round was in the chamber.

Less than a gram of cocaine was found in a small cross bag hanging on a bedroom door. A hydrocodone pill was also found.

A heat-sealed bag containing 252 grams of cannabis was found in the bedroom dresser, prosecutors said.

Just over $1,000 in cash, in a variety of denominations, was found in the pocket of a pair of shorts.

Two citations previously issued to the resident by the Fox Lake Police Department were found in the basement.

Felony charges are pending against the man, who was taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jail.
