Crystal Lake Pride has announced that the organization has officially incorporated as an independent non-profit organization following a successful official ribbon-cutting ceremony in April.
Crystal Lake Pride announced on April 23 that it has jumped through the necessary hoops to incorporate as an independent nonprofit organization.
This marked a milestone in the organization’s commitment to serving the community, officials said.
Crystal Lake Pride said the organization began in 2024 as an outreach initiative under the Downtown Crystal Lake Main Street Association.
However, the group experienced rapid growth, necessitating its transition to a standalone entity.
Officials said the mission of Crystal Lake Pride is to break down stigmas and educate the community while always remaining respectful of the neighborhoods in which they live and work.
Since forming its dedicated Board of Directors, the organization has developed a robust calendar of year-round initiatives aimed at fostering inclusivity and celebration, officials said.
The group said that they strive to break down stigmas and build lasting unity between neighbors through education, community engagement, and annual celebrations.
“This event is something to be proud of,” said Crystal Lake Board President Jim Tomasek. “We have worked hard to curate a fun experience that is truly respectful of our neighborhood. Whether you are a member of the queer community or want to show support for your neighbors who are, this is an event for you!”
The Pride Celebration will take place on June 7, beginning with a walk through downtown Crystal Lake, officials said.
Following the walk, the celebration will take place at the Brink Street Market.
The event will feature local queer vendors and downtown businesses, a food court and beer tent, entertainment and activities.
The entertainment will include rapper JayLeigh, followed by additional local musicians. The musical lineup culminates with performances by Atomic (Blondie Tribute) and Moon Money (90s Pop Rock Tribute), officials said.
