Police launched a multi-agency search effort and warned residents after a suspect fled on foot from a traffic stop in Kenosha County and crossed over the border into Lake County near Antioch Sunday morning.

The Kenosha County, Wisconsin, Sheriff’s Office said around 10:10 a.m. Sunday that it was actively searching for a suspect who fled a traffic stop.

The stop occurred in the 12500 block of Rock Lake Road, which is south of Trevor and north of Antioch.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing blue jeans and a black shirt with red shoes.

Residents in the area were asked to remain alert and report any suspicious activity immediately.

“If you see anyone matching this description or observe suspicious behavior, please call 9-1-1 right away,” the sheriff’s office said.

Officials asked the public not to approach the suspect themselves and said deputies were actively investigating.

Police drones were launched and canines were deployed to aid in the search effort, according to police radio traffic.

A police perimeter was also established around the area.

Multiple police agencies, including the Antioch Police Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office, responded.

The sheriff’s office said in an update around 11:10 a.m. that they had ended the search without locating the suspect.

Officials say they have positively identified the suspect and do not believe he was in the immediate area.

They believe he fled further into Illinois. It was not clear whether any charges were anticipated to be filed or not.
