The sheriff says a victim fought back and stabbed an attacker after he was pulled out of his car and battered by multiple people in the parking lot of a bar near Grayslake.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1:30 a.m. Saturday to the C’Mon Inn Bar, 34028 Route 45 in unincorporated Grayslake for a report of a fight in progress.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived and discovered the individuals involved in the fight had fled in vehicles, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Chief Christopher Covelli.

Deputies located a vehicle containing one of the people involved in the fight in the area of Gages Lake Road and Hunt Club Road.

They found a man, a 21-year-old Grayslake man, with two stab wounds in the back, Covelli said.

The Gurnee Fire Department responded to the scene to treat him.

He was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s 911 Communications Center soon received a call from a different 21-year-old Grayslake man.

He reported he was at the bar, had been attacked by three men and he had stabbed one of them.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the victim’s home to further investigate, Covelli said.

Sheriff’s detectives also responded and reviewed video surveillance from the bar.

The video surveillance showed the victim had initially locked himself in his car while an altercation was occurring.

One of the victim’s friends came to his car to get inside, Covelli said. The victim began allowing his friend in the car when the victim was physically pulled out of his car by the offender and others.

The offender began attacking the victim and the victim pulled out a knife and stabbed the suspect to avoid further being attacked.

Covelli said the victim was acting in self-defense and that some type of verbal disagreement led to the physical fight.

Charges are possible against the suspects who started the physical fight.
