A worker was flown to the hospital after falling 40 feet to the ground from a tree and suffering serious injuries at a residence in Bull Valley Thursday morning.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 10:12 a.m. Thursday to the 200 block of Cold Springs Road in Bull Valley for a report of a victim who fell.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said dispatchers advised responding fire crews that the patient was unconscious.
The updated information prompted an air standby of a medical helicopter.
Paramedics arrived and located the adult male victim, who was conscious but suffering from several traumatic injuries, Vucha said.
The man was a worker performing tree removal services on the property when he fell approximately 40 feet to the ground.
Firefighters and paramedics provided emergency medical care at the scene before transporting him by ambulance to the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital, Vucha said.
A Mercyhealth REACT medical helicopter was waiting at the helipad and the patient was transferred to the flight crew.
The helicopter flew the victim to Javon Bea Hospital — Riverside in Rockford, which is a Level 1 trauma center, with injuries believed to be serious, Vucha said.
