Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire that engulfed a delivery truck before it was able to spread to an adjacent garage in Woodstock Friday morning.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock Police Department responded around 8:02 a.m. Friday to the 400 block of West Judd Street for a report of a vehicle fire.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle on fire.
Police officers arrived and reported the fire was 10 feet from the garage and 20 feet from the neighbor’s home.
Firefighters arrived within minutes and located a delivery-style step van parked in the driveway of a house, Vucha said.
There was heavy fire showing from the front of the van.
Fire crews quickly deployed a hose line and connected to a nearby hydrant to secure a positive water supply.
“Due to the quick actions of firefighters, the fire was contained to the vehicle and did not extend to the adjacent garage or residence,” Vucha said.
No one was trapped in the vehicle and no injuries were reported. A tow truck removed the vehicle from the driveway.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.
