A Huntley man was injured Wednesday after he allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel of a car and slammed the vehicle into the corner of a house in unincorporated DeKalb County.

DeKalb County emergency personnel were called to the 12000 block of Barcroft Circle near Hampshire at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday because a vehicle hit a house, authorities said.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2023 White Chevy Silverado had hit the corner of the house.

Troy A. Oates, 53, of Huntley, was later identified as the driver of the Silverado, authorities said.

Oates is said to have fallen asleep at the wheel and driven head-on into the home, authorities said.

Emergency personnel from Hampshire Fire Protection District said there was heavy damage at the scene and that Oates had suffered a facial injury in the crash.

Oates was transported from the scene with a head injury to Advocate Sherman Hospital by the Hampshire Fire Protection District, officials said.
