Three people were transported to the hospital after two sedans collided head-on along Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach Sunday evening.
The Round Lake Beach Police Department and Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded around 8:10 p.m. Sunday to Rollins Road and Hainesville Road in Round Lake Beach for reports of a vehicle crash with injuries.
Emergency responders arrived to find a Mercedes sedan and a Hyundai sedan that both had heavy front-end damage after crashing head-on.
A total of three ambulances, each from the Greater Round Lake, Lake Villa and Grayslake fire protection districts, responded to the crash.
Paramedics evaluated three people and transported them to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Greater Round Lake Battalion Fire Chief Jay VandeBerg said.
Their exact conditions were unknown, but one of them sustained injuries that required immediate treatment and transport more than the other two.
The northbound lanes of Hainesville Road were shut down at East Clarendon Drive, and the eastbound lanes of Rollins Road were shut down at Hainesville Road.
Part of the westbound lanes of Rollins Road were also shut down by police.
Tow trucks with Apple Towing, based out of Round Lake, responded to remove both vehicles and help clean up the debris.
The crash was cleared at around 9 p.m., and the roads were reopened.
It’s currently unclear how exactly the crash happened and if any citations were issued.
The crash is under investigation by the Round Lake Beach Police Department.
