A Huntley man has been charged after allegedly unlawfully restraining a woman in a Tesla Cybertruck and performing a lewd sex act on himself in public in Algonquin.
Harry Kulubis, 39, of Huntley, was charged Thursday with a Class 4 felony count of unlawful restraint and a Class A misdemeanor count of public indecency.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Kulubis unlawfully detained a person in his purple 2024 Tesla CyberTruck around 9:40 p.m. Thursday.
The complaint said the victim had told Kulubis to stop the vehicle and let her out.
The complaint said Kulubis refused to let her leave and continued driving in Algonquin.
The complaint also alleges Kulubis performed an act of lewd exposure of his body when he exposed his genitals and committed an act on himself in front of another person.
The Algonquin Police Department arrested Kulubis and transported him to the McHenry County Jail.
The charges are non-detainable under the Illinois SAFE-T Act so the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office did not file a petition to detain him.
He was held for an Initial Appearance Court hearing on Saturday where McHenry County Judge Mark Facchini released him from custody.
Facchini ordered Kulubis not to go to Suzaku Field Sushi Restaurant in Algonquin and to have no contact with the victim.
Kulubis is scheduled to appear in court again on June 9 for a status of preliminary hearing. A status of subponena request hearing is scheduled for June 22.
