The Libertyville Fire Department, Lake Forest Fire Department, Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police responded around 12:50 p.m. on June 3 to Interstate 94 at milepost 13 in Libertyville for a rollover crash.

The driver was able to self-extricate from the cab of the truck. A small diesel and radiator fuel leak was also reported.

Illinois State Police said a preliminary investigation showed that the crash involved a single-vehicle, a gray semi-truck with a white semi-trailer.

The semi, which was hauling trash, struck the median wall before coming to rest on the left shoulder, state police said.

The crash impacted both directions on the interstate, state police said.

Ernie’s Wrecker Service was requested to the scene to remove the truck and trailer and clean up the trash that spilled.

The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The left lane was closed on westbound Interstate 94 for several hours while the crash was cleared.

The cause of the crash was not released by state police but a witness, as well as a 911 caller, reported a tire from the truck had come off.
