A man and a woman were flown to the hospital after both suffered serious injuries in separate fall incidents in McHenry County days apart, fire officials said.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 7:03 p.m. on June 5 to the 100 block of Cass Street in Woodstock for a report of a fall victim.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said paramedics arrived and found a man unconscious.
He was exhibiting obvious signs of trauma following a fall, Vucha said.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested to respond to the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock.
An ambulance transported the victim to the hospital helipad and he was transferred to the flight crew, Vucha said.
The helicopter transported the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, which is a Level 1 trauma center.
He was believed to have suffered serious injuries. Further details on the circumstances of the incident were not available.
In a separate incident, the McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to the 2200 block of Concord Drive in McHenry for a call of a traumatic injury.
McHenry Township Fire Protection District Battalion Chief David Harwood said a 65-year-old woman fell from a standing position.
The woman suffered a head injury and had an altered level of consciousness, Harwood said.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested and an ambulance transported the victim to the helicopter base helipad at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry.
The woman was transferred to the flight crew, which flew her to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries, Harwood said.
