Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department Chief David Pilgard said crews received calls for a garage fire and arrived to find a three-car garage, which was not attached to a home, actively on fire.

The resident discovered the fire and called 911 to report it. All residents were accounted for.

The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was activated to the box alarm level to bring additional resources, including fire department tender trucks, to the scene to assist in extinguishing the fire.

An investigation determined the fire appeared to be electrical in nature involving one of the cars, Pilgard said.

The house on the property was not damaged and no injuries were reported.

The fire occurred just down the street from another property where a fire destroyed a garage and damaged the attached house on April 21, injuring a firefighter and prompting a major fire department response.
