The Libertyville Fire Department, Lake County Sheriff’s Office and several automatic aid fire departments responded around 7:30 p.m. Friday to the 1400 block of Bull Creek Drive in unincorporated Libertyville for a report of a structure fire.

Emergency crews received a report of a fire in the kitchen of a home.

Firefighters arrived in minutes and found smoke coming from the front of the two-story home, Libertyville Fire Department Lt. Kevin Hassenauer said.

There was one resident home at the time, and they were able to evacuate.

Crews investigated and found a dishwasher on fire in the kitchen that was spreading to a nearby cabinet, Hassenauer said.

Crews quickly deployed a hose line into the home and extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the home.

The lieutenant credited the crews’ quick actions in containing the blaze.

The area does not have fire hydrants, prompting water tenders from nearby fire departments to respond.

Much of the fire apparatus responding to the fire was returned after it was brought under control.

No one was injured.

The residents stayed elsewhere for the night due to the smoke and smell, Hassenauer added.

The fire remains under investigation by the Libertyville Fire Department.
