Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire that damaged the side of a house before it was able to cause major damage in Algonquin Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Algonquin Police Department responded around 1:08 p.m. Sunday to the 700 block of Providence Drive in Algonquin for a report of a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived on the scene in approximately three minutes.
They found a portion of the exterior of a single-family house on fire, fire officials said.
The blaze was being extinguished by the homeowner using a garden hose.
Fire officials said firefighters pulled a hose line and began fully extinguishing the fire on the side of the home.
The fire was declared out five minutes after crews arrived and firefighters conducted overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
No residents or firefighters were injured, fire officials said. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Fire Chief John Knebl said it was fortunate that the residents were not displaced and the home remains habitable.
The Huntley Fire Protection District and Carpentersville Fire Department assisted during the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and remains under investigation by the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.
