Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that broke out in a large barrel, which caused a large amount of smoke to fill a manufacturing plant in Woodstock Monday morning.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 7 a.m. Monday to 1525 West Lake Shore Drive in Woodstock for a report of a structure fire.
Workers called 911 to report smoke inside the building, according to Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha.
Firefighters arrived within minutes and observed smoke coming from the rear of a large commercial structure.
Vucha said fire crews entered the building to investigate and quickly located a fire involving a large barrel.
The fire had produced a significant amount of smoke throughout the building.
The fire was extinguished within minutes and contained to the immediate area, Vucha said.
Firefighters worked to ventilate the building to remove smoke from the interior.
No injuries were reported and the last fire crews cleared the scene approximately 45 minutes after arrival, Vucha said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District but is not believed to be suspicious.
The fire occurred in a manufacturing plant that contains several businesses related to textile printing.
