Funeral services were held for a 21-year-old man from Zion who died after he crashed his motorcycle into a semi-truck and was ejected onto the roadway in DuPage County earlier this week.

The Addison Police Department and Addison Fire Protection District responded around 5:25 p.m. Monday to Fullerton Avenue and Fairbank Street in Addison for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

Passersby called 911 to report a crash involving a motorcycle and a semi-truck near Clyde’s Donuts, 1120 West Fullerton Avenue, according to fire department radio traffic.

The 911 callers reported the motorcyclist was not moving and fire crews arrived and confirmed the motorcyclist was down.

The victim was confirmed unconscious and not breathing, fire department radio traffic indicated. Fullerton Avenue was completely shut down by police.

The Addison Police Department said the motorcyclist was identified as Bryan Arambula, 21, of Zion.

An ambulance transported Arambula to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation showed Arambula was operating the motorcycle eastbound on Fullerton Avenue, police said.

Arambula’s motorcycle collided with a semi-tractor-trailer truck. Police did not say whether the truck was stopped or which direction it was traveling.

The driver of the truck was uninjured and did not require transport to the hospital.

The DuPage MERIT Major Crash Reconstruction Team was activated and conducted an extensive scene investigation.

“We wish to extend our sincere condolences to the family of Bryan Arambula,” the police department said.

A celebration of life was held for Arambula on Friday morning at The Memorial Chapel of Waukegan and a funeral mass proceeded at 12 p.m. Friday at St. Dismas Church in Waukegan.

A burial was held at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville after the mass. Arambula leaves behind his parents, sisters, extended family and “countless lifelong friends,” according to his obituary.
