A woman told police that she sneezed, which caused her to lose control of her SUV and crash through the front of a store in Zion, leaving it temporarily closed, authorities said.
The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire Rescue Department responded around 12:27 p.m. on June 21 to Moshis Tobacco and Vape, 3241 Sheridan Road in Zion, for a report of a vehicle crash.
Fire crews arrived and reported finding a car that had struck a commercial building.
Zion Police Department Lt. Derek Zaloudek said a 64-year-old woman was operating a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan.
She was driving in the parking lot when she struck the building.
No injuries were reported to the driver or anyone in the building, Zaloudek said.
A crash investigation report said the woman was entering a parking space in front of the business.
She told officers she sneezed and inadvertently pressed on the accelerator, causing the crash, Zaloudek said.
The vehicle only partially entered the building but broke two large windows.
Zaloudek said intoxication was determined not to be a factor and the driver was not summoned to court by any citations or charges.
The business was reportedly temporarily closed for the day due to the damage but reopened the following day.
