An Illinois State Police trooper was transported to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency at the scene of a rollover crash on Interstate 90 near Huntley.
The Huntley Fire Protection District and Illinois State Police responded around 5:40 a.m. on June 19 to westbound Interstate 90 near mile marker 45.5 for a report of a vehicle crash.
Huntley Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Eric Bentley said a passing semi-truck reported seeing a vehicle in the ditch and returned to the scene.
Firefighters arrived and found a single vehicle rollover off the roadway along the fence line.
There were no occupants in the vehicle, Bentley said.
State police said the white Ford pickup truck, which was located abandoned and disabled in the right ditch, had rolled over.
Firefighters searched the area on foot and with thermal imaging cameras but did not locate anyone, Bentley said.
The Illinois State Police and Illinois Tollway Authority officials assisted in the search and remained on the scene after the fire department cleared the scene.
State police requested an ambulance to the crash scene around 8:11 a.m. for a medical emergency, Bentley said.
The patient was treated and transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.
State police said the patient was a state trooper who experienced a medical event and sought treatment.
He was released from the hospital shortly after and was recovering.
The third lane of Interstate 90 was blocked but later reopened after the rolled-over vehicle was towed.
