It’ll be another day of hot and humid temperatures before potentially severe thunderstorms are expected to roll into the Lake and McHenry county areas Friday into Saturday, weather officials said.
The National Weather Service (NWS) announced that hot and humid conditions are expected to start the day again on Friday.
Weather officials estimate Waukegan and Lake County will reach a high of about 92 degrees between noon and 3 p.m., while Woodstock and McHenry County will reach about 95 degrees by 1 p.m.
Average temperatures in McHenry County are expected to hover in the 90s between noon and 4 p.m., weather officials said.
People are urged to remain hydrated and take breaks from the heat during the day.
People are also urged to wear light clothing, stay in the air conditioning if possible, and avoid outdoor activities as much as possible.
Periods of scattered thunderstorms are expected to move into the area in the afternoon through the overnight hours into the fourth of July.
The heaviest chance of damaging storms in Lake and McHenry counties is expected between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday
Those afternoon storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds and heavy downpours, the National Weather Service is reporting.
Warm and humid conditions are expected to persist through the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to dip slightly to the upper 80s on Saturday, with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms expected Saturday night.
