Fire officials are refusing to release information on a fire that damaged a home, apparently leaving it uninhabitable, in Lindenhurst on the Fourth of July evening.
The Lake Villa Fire Protection District, Lindenhurst Police Department and numerous automatic aid fire departments responded around 6 p.m. on July 4 to the area of Millennium Park, 201 Country Place in Lindenhurst, for a report of a structure fire.
Dispatchers then updated the address of the fire to a home in the 300 block of Cross Creek Lane, according to fire department radio traffic.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke and fire coming from a two-story home, according to radio traffic.
Crews were seen deploying hose lines into the home and focusing heavily on the east side of the structure.
Field employees from ComEd and Nicor Gas responded to tend to power and natural gas utilities.
The fire was extinguished at around 6:30 p.m., according to radio traffic.
It’s unknown if anyone was injured or evaluated by paramedics.
Much of the damage appeared to be in the attic and on the east side of the home.
The house appears to be uninhabitable.
Fire investigators from the Lake Villa and Fox Lake fire protection districts responded to the scene.
It’s unclear what caused the fire and how many residents were displaced.
Lake & McHenry County Scanner first reached out to the Lake Villa Fire Protection District Saturday evening and numerous times since then to learn more about the incident.
An administrative assistant said Friday afternoon that the fire chiefs are not releasing any information at this time.
Lake & McHenry County Scanner has made a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the fire district.

Officials said an exterior fire spread to the home’s second-floor bedroom and attic space. No injuries were reported, and the home is uninhabitable due to smoke and water damage.
