A man was flown to the hospital after suffering multiple serious injuries when his motorcycle crashed in a curve of a roadway near Woodstock Sunday afternoon.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 12:56 p.m. Sunday to the 10100 block of Lucas Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said emergency personnel arrived and found a motorcycle down just off the roadway.
The crash happened east of Doty Road in a curve on Lucas Road.
The adult male rider was found in a nearby ditch where he had come to rest after the crash, Vucha said.
Paramedics immediately began providing medical care for the rider, who was suffering from multiple traumatic injuries.
Vucha said a LifeNet medical helicopter was requested due to the extent of the victim’s injuries.
The helicopter landed at the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital.
An ambulance transported the man to the helipad from the scene and transferred him to the flight crew.
The helicopter flew the victim to a Level 1 trauma center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Vucha said.
Lucas Road was shut down in both directions between Doty Road and Briarwood Road during the investigation. A tow truck removed the damaged motorcycle after the investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
